PM Shri KVNo:2 PortBlair library activities can be diverse and engaging, helping students develop a love for reading, enhance their research skills, and foster creativity. Activities in a Kendriya Vidyalaya NO:2 school library:

 Reading Challenges

  • Reading Marathons: Set a goal for the number of books to be read in a month or a term, with rewards for those who meet or exceed the target.

 Storytelling Sessions

  • Invite teachers, students, or local authors to share stories or read aloud from popular books.
  • Encourage students to participate in storytelling competitions to improve their public speaking and narrative skills.

Book Reviews and Displays

  • Have students write and display book reviews in the library. This can be done on a bulletin board or through a digital platform.
  • Create themed book displays (e.g., mystery, science fiction, historical fiction) to highlight different sections of the library.

Library Clubs

  • Reader’s Club: Students can discuss their favourite books, explore new genres, and participate in group reading sessions and promoting reading among their peers.

 

 Creative Writing and Art Competitions

  • Hold creative writing contests where students can write short stories, poems, or essays on given topics.
  • Organize art competitions where students illustrate scenes or characters from their favorite books.

 Library Orientation

  • Conduct orientation sessions for new students to familiarize them with the library layout, rules, and resources.

 

 Author Visits and Virtual Meetups

  • Invite authors for book talks, Q&A sessions, or workshops on writing and publishing.
  • Arrange virtual meetups with authors or other students from different schools to discuss books or literary topics.

 Themed Reading Weeks

  • Celebrate themed weeks like Science Fiction Week, Historical Fiction Week, or Biography Week, with related activities, readings, and discussions.

 Library Ambassadors Program

  • Select enthusiastic students to serve as library ambassadors, helping with library management, organizing events, and promoting reading among their peers.

 Exhibitions and Literary Fests

  • Organize book exhibitions showcasing new arrivals, award-winning books, or books on specific themes.
  • Host a literary fest with events like quizzes, debates, and poetry recitals.

 Digital Literacy Sessions

  • Teach students how to use digital tools for reading, research, and learning, including e-books, online journals, and educational websites.

These activities can make the library a vibrant hub of learning and creativity in the school.
